20-Ton European Single Girder Overhead Crane Sold at Chilean Exhibition

For an international lifting equipment supplier, exhibitions are more than opportunities to showcase products. They are an effective way to meet potential customers face-to-face, understand their real requirements, build trust, and develop long-term business relationships. This successful project in Chile is a good example of how an exhibition inquiry can eventually turn into an actual order and even create new opportunities for market expansion.

Understanding the Customer’s Needs at the Exhibition

The customer was met during a professional exhibition in Chile. As the General Manager of a company specializing in motor maintenance and related industrial services, he had a clear understanding of industrial equipment and high expectations for product quality, reliability, and service.

During our conversation at the exhibition, we focused on the customer’s actual working conditions and project requirements. After detailed communication, the customer confirmed that he needed a 20-ton European single girder overhead crane, together with supporting steel structures and crane accessories.

The main crane requirements included the SNHD model, A5 duty class, 20-ton lifting capacity, 7-meter span, 3.17-meter lifting height, and remote control operation. The required power supply was 380V, 50Hz, 3-phase.

The customer also required a complete steel workshop measuring 12 m × 8 m with a height of 6 m, including roof panels with skylights, side panels, and a sliding door measuring 6 m wide × 5 m high. In addition, crane rails and a conductor bar system were included in the supply scope.

By confirming these parameters carefully at the exhibition, we were able to avoid misunderstandings and prepare a more accurate technical and commercial proposal.

Providing a Complete Solution

The customer was not simply looking for an overhead crane. He needed a complete lifting and workshop solution. Therefore, instead of offering only the crane itself, we integrated the crane, steel structure, crane rails, and conductor system into one project proposal.

Based on the confirmed requirements, we prepared a customized solution and quotation. The project was arranged on a CIF basis to the Port of Valparaíso, with a delivery time of approximately 35 working days. The agreed payment terms were 40% TT as a down payment and 60% before shipment.

Providing a complete solution made the purchasing process easier for the customer. It also demonstrated our ability to coordinate different aspects of an industrial project, from equipment design and manufacturing to supporting steel structures and transportation.

Continuous Follow-Up Builds Trust

After the exhibition, we continued communicating with the customer instead of treating the quotation as the end of the sales process. We followed up regularly, confirmed technical details, answered questions, and coordinated with our engineering team whenever further clarification was required.

This continuous communication gradually strengthened the customer’s confidence in our products and services. The customer could see that we were not simply focused on making a sale, but were willing to provide professional support throughout the project.

During the follow-up process, an even more valuable opportunity emerged. The customer expressed interest in cooperating with us as a local intermediary and helping promote our lifting equipment to other industrial companies in Chile, particularly companies in the mining sector.

From One Order to a Wider Market Opportunity

The project was successfully converted into an order for a 20-ton European single girder overhead crane and its supporting facilities, with shipment to Chile by sea.

More importantly, the project created an opportunity to develop a long-term local partnership. Through the customer’s industry connections and willingness to promote our products, we gained an additional channel for reaching potential mining and industrial customers in Chile.

This case demonstrates the importance of combining exhibition marketing, professional communication, customized solutions, and consistent follow-up. A successful exhibition inquiry should not be viewed as a one-time sales opportunity. With the right approach, one customer can become a long-term partner and help open an entire market.

For SEVENCRANE, this successful Chilean project is not only another completed order, but also a valuable step toward strengthening our presence in the Chilean and broader Latin American lifting equipment market.
