Common Safety Protection Devices for Bridge Crane

Safety protection devices are necessary devices to prevent accidents in lifting machinery. This includes devices that limit the travel and working position of the crane, devices that prevent overloading of the crane, devices that prevent crane tipping and sliding, and interlocking protection devices. These devices ensure the safe and normal operation of lifting machinery. This article mainly introduces the common safety protection devices of bridge cranes during production operations.

1. Lift height (descent depth) limiter

When the lifting device reaches its limit position, it can automatically cut off the power source and stop the bridge crane from running. It mainly controls the safe position of the hook to prevent safety accidents such as the hook falling off due to the hook hitting the top.

2. Run the travel limiter

Cranes and lifting carts need to be equipped with travel limiters in each direction of operation, which automatically cut off the power source in the forward direction when reaching the limit position specified in the design. Mainly composed of limit switches and safety ruler type collision blocks, it is used to control the operation of crane small or large vehicles within the limit position range of travel.

3. Weight limiter

The lifting capacity limiter keeps the load 100mm to 200mm above the ground, gradually without impact, and continues to load up to 1.05 times the rated load capacity. It can cut off the upward movement, but the mechanism allows the downward movement. It mainly prevents the crane from lifting beyond the rated load weight. A common type of lifting limiter is an electrical type, which generally consists of a load sensor and a secondary instrument. It is strictly prohibited to operate it in a short circuit.

4. Anti collision device

When two or more lifting machinery or lifting carts are running on the same track, or are not on the same track and there is a possibility of collision, anti-collision devices should be installed to prevent collision. When two bridge cranes approach, the electrical switch is triggered to cut off the power supply and stop the crane from running. Because it is difficult to avoid accidents solely based on the driver's judgment when the homework situation is complex and the running speed is fast.

5. Interlocking protection device

For doors entering and exiting lifting machinery, as well as doors from the driver's cab to the bridge, unless the user manual specifically states that the door is open and can ensure safe use, the lifting machinery should be equipped with interlocking protection devices. When the door is opened, the power supply cannot be connected. If in operation, when the door is opened, the power supply should be disconnected and all mechanisms should stop running.

6. Other safety protection and protective devices

Other safety protection and protective devices mainly include buffers and end stops, wind and anti slip devices, alarm devices, emergency stop switches, track cleaners, protective covers, guardrails, etc.
