Overhead Crane for Industrial Applications in Mauritius

This project highlights the successful customization and supply of a European Type Single Girder Overhead Crane for an industrial customer in Mauritius, delivered under CIF Port Louis terms. Designed to meet high duty requirements and strict operational standards, the crane solution reflects a balance of reliability, efficiency, and advanced European technology, making it ideal for modern production environments.

Project Overview and Delivery Details

The customer required a robust lifting solution with a short delivery cycle of 20 working days. The agreed payment terms were 50% T/T as down payment and 50% T/T before delivery, ensuring smooth coordination between production and logistics. Shipment was arranged by sea freight, guaranteeing safe transportation of the complete crane system, including runway rails and power supply components.

Core Crane Configuration

At the heart of this project is a European type single girder overhead crane, model SNHD, designed with a high working duty class A6, suitable for frequent and intensive lifting operations. The crane features a rated lifting capacity of 5 tons, a span of 14.345 meters, and a lifting height of 6.55 meters, meeting the customer’s exact workshop layout and production needs.

To enhance operational safety and convenience, the crane is equipped with a remote control system, allowing operators to handle loads precisely from a safe distance. The power supply is configured to 415V, 50Hz, 3-phase, which aligns with local electrical standards in Mauritius and ensures stable performance.

Premium Components and Electrical System

One of the key advantages of this European type overhead crane is the use of high-end international brands for critical components. The lifting and traveling motors are from SEW, known worldwide for durability, energy efficiency, and smooth operation. The electrical components are from ABB, ensuring reliable control, long service life, and easy maintenance.

In addition, the crane is fitted with an audio-visual alarm system, which significantly improves on-site safety by providing clear warnings during crane operation, especially in busy workshop environments.

Runway and Power Supply System

The complete solution also includes P24 runway rails, with a total length of 25 meters on each side, ensuring stable and precise crane traveling along the workshop. To provide continuous and reliable power, a seamless conductor rail system (6 mm²) was installed over the same 25-meter length. This type of enclosed power supply reduces wear, minimizes electrical faults, and improves overall operational safety compared to traditional cable systems.

Customization Based on Workshop Drawings

A critical part of this project was the use of customer-provided factory layout drawings. Based on these drawings, the crane span, lifting height, rail length, and component arrangement were carefully optimized to fit the existing building structure. This customization approach reduced installation complexity, avoided unnecessary civil modifications, and shortened commissioning time.
